1. Separate the class into groups of two. Give each group an index
card with the shark that they will be researching.
Direct students
to access Kids
Click or Yahooligans to
use as search engines for
their research. They can type in shark for
general information or
the name of their shark for more specific
data.
2. Give each group an outline of what they need to find out during
their research. Use the following as a guideline:

Sharks Name
II. Physical Characteristics (size, color, weight, teeth)
III. Possible Predators
IV. Habitat
V. Migration Pattern
VI. Other Interesting Facts
3. After the students have researched their shark, the students must
now write a one page report about their shark.
4. After the teacher has proof-read it, the students must now use
word perfect or other program to create a one page report . The
students must include a picture of their
shark found on the
Internet.
5. After all the students have submitted their page, paste each
picture on a piece of construction paper. Punch small holes in
each of the four corners. Give each group yarn and have the
students connect their page with the other pages, creating a quilt.
6. Make daily Ocean Journal entry.
The students will be graded on their research report by using a rubric. The following can be used as a guide:

Used their own words when writing a report - 5 points | The report was completed on time - 5 points |
Spelling and Grammar rules have been applied - 5 points | The report was at least one page long - 5 points |
