Sense of Touch
Objectives:
- The students will use
their sense of touch to determine what that object is.
- The students will listen
to Here Are My Hands by: Bill Martin Jr.
- The student will be able
to state which body part is used to touch.
Materials:
- Story: Here Are My
Hands by: Bill Martin Jr.
- Feely bags with various
objects. (block, toy car, comb, spoon)
- Cotton
- Sand paper
- Rock
- Piece of
leather
- Construction paper
divided into four squares
- Computer writing software
- Teachers can learn about touch at The
Sense of Touch.
Activity:
- Read Here Are My
Hands and discuss.
- Introduce the sense of
Touch and types of textures (rough, smooth, soft,
hard).
- Pass around a feely bag
with various objects and students use their sense of touch to
determine what is in side.
- Pass out construction
paper and label each square with a texture.
- Pass around the cotton
and determine what texture it is.
- Do the same with other
objects.
Evaluation:
- Have students name one of
the different textures for touch.
- Have students give
examples of how they use their sense of touch each
day.
- Have students write one sentence on
the computer on how they use their sense of touch each day.
Extension:
Have students write a funny name poem describing how something feels and
post on the school web site. Funny poems can be posted on the school web site or
at Just Write.
