How It Works:
The purpose of this unit is to introduce kindergarten students to the five
senses through fun and hands-on activities as well as the use of the Internet.
It will introduce students to each part of the body used for the
various senses. This unit will
also give students a basic understanding of how we use our senses to gather
information from the world around us.
Students will learn the body parts associated to each of the five senses.
Students will learn their five senses.
Estimated Class Periods To Complete:
Software and Materials Used:
Students will use book marked Internet web sites about the five
senses to gather information and use desktop publishing software, like KidPix,
to write assignments. I have listed some cool links in my unit.
Five senses, science, hear, see, feel, taste, smell, human body, eyes,
nose, ear, skin, mouth
This unit is designed to used with kindergarten children.
It can be adapted to higher-grade levels easily.
The students will benefit from this unit because they will learn about the
basic structures and functions of the human body and how they relate to the
five senses. Students also learn how to use word processing and navigate the
Internet at a very early age.
Make sure you have some background information on each of the senses to
give your students some interesting facts.
