Lesson 5
Stages Of The Water Cycle
Objective:
-
The students will recall the stages of the water cycle.
Materials:
Procedure:
- Students will work in pairs using the Internet site book marked
by the teacher.
- Students will record the stages of the water
cycle: Evaporation- When the sun warms the water, some of it is changed into
a gas. Condensation- The gas produced when evaporation takes place is called
water vapor; it rises and forms clouds. Precipitation- When the water vapor
gets heavy, it falls back to earth in forms of precipitation. If it is cold
it is snow, if it is warm it is rain. Recycled- Some precipitation is
absorbed into the ground and the rest falls into lakes, streams, rivers, and
oceans.
Evaluation:
-
The students will be able to recall and describe the stages
of the water cycle: evaporation, condensation and rain or precipitation.
Home Learning:
-
Draw and label the stages of the water cycle.
Extension Activity:
-
Make a wheel and illustrate the water cycle
-
Students can use the draw application of any
desktop publishing program. Have them create a large circle with small squares
and arrows inside.
-
Student can locate water cycle clip art at sites
like School Discovery
(click on For Students then click on clip art gallery)
or draw their own stages. Add to wheel and publish

What determines the water's state (gas, liquid or
solid)? The temperature. Although water changes its state, the amount of water
on Earth stays constant.
Home Learning:
- Student will locate weather news in
newspaper or online and share weather forecast for following three days.
