Science
1. Record observations on a data table or chart.
2. Observe, illustrate, and describe the functions of the parts of a plant.
3. Measure, chart, and graph seed germination and plant growth.

 

Social Studies
1. Recognize that maps and globes are utilized to provide directions as well as other types of information
2. Recognize common map symbols used in map legends.
3. Use a compass rose as it relates to the cardinal and intermediate directions on a map; i.e., north, south, east, west, northeast, southeast, northwest, southwest.
4. Describe how major geographical features may determine the location of a community; e.g., access to water, availability of natural resources.
5. Compare pictures and maps of a given area.
6. Use appropriate resources to study an identified topic.
7. Recognize that communities change over time.
8. Gather and relate data from different sources.
9. Cite examples of different kinds of resources; i.e., human, natural, and man-made.
10. Develop an appreciation of cultures other than one's own.
11. Examine the customs and traditions of various cultural groups, past and present.
12. State the importance of cooperation in human relationships.


Language Arts
1. Reads a variety of materials with increasing fluency.
2. Reads, identifies, and understands key vocabulary words and concepts.

4. Develop an understanding of gender and other stereotypic and cultural biases portrayed in pictures and in written and oral language.
