             My Mother Femi's Story

"Goodbye everybody. Femi, I'm off to NYC!" said my Uncle Iyo taking my sister Annie with him. It was in the '50s; he was my father's younger brother. I remember when my Uncle Iyo would tell me stories about where he came from, which was Nigeria Africa via England. I never knew why he wanted to go to NYC,;all I knew was that he came back when I was very young, which must of meant it wasn't what he expected it to be like.

My  father said it was the best place to be in the whole world for. Something that I've noticed while living here is that it's very exhausting and expensive always putting holes in my pocket.

England has always been a different place from NYC, the lifestyle is slower; schools are more focused on academics and people are friendlier in England.

If I were to describe NYC in one word it would be macrocosm because it's like the world (diversity and several cultures)all in one place. Speaking of words, these are some of the words that remind me of my family's country : Union Jack, Beatles, English cheddar, Queen Elizabeth, English pancakes and Fish and Chips.
