ACTIVITY 1: Eliciting prior knowledge. |
Does anyone know what the water cycle is?
Begin by creating a word splash with the class using Inspiration, Kidspiration or a chalkboard to elicit prior knowledge about water and the water cycle.
To make a word splash: Introduce the topic, The Water Cycle, and ask students to think about what they know about the topic and why it is important. Write down the students' responses, key words about the topic on the computer using a projector and Kidspiration/Inspiration or use the chalkboard or overhead transparency. The words should surround the central topic: The Water Cycle.

Give out vocabulary list and questionnaire that must be answered prior to writing report. | Research the water cycle using the list of websites and video at United Streaming. RESOURCE:WEBSITES | Review the contents of the video with your teacher and classmates. For homework: Using the answers from your questionnaire write a report about the water cycle. Cite all quotations. Draw your own diagram. Then return to the computer and finish the report using word processing. |
