In Dec, 2004, more than
94,000 people were killed due to the Tsunami in Indonesia. It left millions
homeless. A Tsunami is a giant wave. This wave was caused by an earthquake.
On March 28, 2005 another major earthquake
struck several small islands in Indonesia.
The Indonesian province
of Aceh, on
the northern tip of the island
of Sumatra, was hit
hardest because it was closest to the earthquake. These satellite images show Lhoknga, a town in Aceh, before
and after the tsunami struck. The entire town was destroyed, except for the
mosque in the city center.
