Fellow Citizens of America,

I’m not sure if you are aware of the tragedy that is occurring. Jews living in the Warsaw Ghetto and in Poland are suffering every day. We know the importance of religious beliefs. Jews should not be in ghettos enclosed by barbed-wire fences with policemen guarding them; however, this is the case in Warsaw. No one should be treated harshly just because their religion or background. Therefore, I would like you to take action and help this people.

More than two million Polish Jews came under German control after German invaded Poland. Millions of Jews lived in Eastern Europe. "The Germans aimed to control this sizable Jewish population by forcing Jews to reside in marked off sections of towns and cities the Nazis call ‘Ghettos’ or Jewish residential quarters." Germans created 400 ghettos in occupied territories. The largest ghetto is in Warsaw. Warsaw is the Polish capital, where almost a half million Jews are to keep within limits. Many ghettos are in cities and towns where Jews are already concentrated. The first group of German and Austrian Jews was transported to ghettos in Eastern Europe. The Germans usually mark off the oldest, most run-down sections of cities for the ghettos. "They sometimes have to evict non-Jewish residents from the buildings to make room for Jewish families." Many of the ghettos are enclose by barbed-wire fences or walls with entrances guarded by local and German police and SS members. At night the residents are forced to stay inside their apartments. All of this is done only because of their background and religion.

"In the Polish cities of Lodz and Warsaw, trolley lines runs through the middle of the Ghetto." Rather than reroute the lines, workers fenced them off, and policemen guard trolley cars.

"Many Jews in ghettos across Eastern Europe try to organize resistance against the Germans and to arm themselves with smuggled and homemade weapons." Now underground resistance movements formed in about 100 Jewish groups.

Jews resisted the Germans in armed fighting in the Warsaw Ghetto. In the summer of 1942, about 300,000 Jews were deported from Warsaw to Treblinka. "When reports of mass murder in the killing center leaked back to the Warsaw Ghetto, mostly young people formed an organization called the Z.O.B." The Z.O.B. is led by twenty-three year-old Mordecai Anielewicz, and he called for the Jewish people to resist going to the railroad cars. The Warsaw Ghetto uprising began after German troops and police entered the ghetto to deport its surviving inhabitants. "Seven hundred and fifty fighters already fought the heavily armed and well trained Germans." The ghetto fighters are not able to hold out for another month because there are more than 56,000 Jews capture, about 7,000 shot and the remainder deported.

Last week the Warsaw ghetto fighters fired on German troops as they tried to round up another group of ghetto inhabitants for deportation. Fighters used a small supply of weapons that had been hidden into the ghetto. Now, the troops are drawing back. This victory inspired the ghetto fighters to prepare for what could happen in the future.

As you can see many Jews are living a hard life. They are treated badly. They should live happily with no problems. Jews are suffering and we should help them. "Help this people by giving them clothes, food, money and milliatry protection. I know you will feel happy when you give something to this people. Also, we should all take action and let this people to be free.
