In Search of Dracula:

 History and Imagination

The purpose of a teaching unit is to be used in the classroom with real students. They are the ones to "approve" the content. I have designed this unit to be both a lesson plan for the instructor and an online textbook for the students. From ancient myths to mystery literature,  from folktales to creative writing, from the supernatural to movies on vampire, from the Salem Witch Trial to Harry Potter, these pages will give you some suggestions on how to make sense of the many conflicting views on the world and what comes "after".  The delicate topic of the supernatural should not be avoided in public schools. It is indeed the supernatural that makes the fabric of great literature from Poe to Stephen King. As educators, we have the obligation to present information on sensitive topics and teach the art of reconciling different viewpoints without offending anybody.
