Salem, Massachusetts is located slightly north east of Boston. Salem was a Puritan colony, and there were other colonies nearby in Danvers and Beverly.

(FYI..Gloucester is the fishing town featured in The Perfect Storm)

Salem is just a 40-minute drive from Boston, along route 1A. It's a lovely drive along the coast.
