How To Play

Elvis Jeopardy Game

What you'll need:

Set Up

  1. Separate class into two teams, A and B.

  2. Select a score keeper/helper.  This student will be located at the chalkboard.  He will maintain the game board (on chalkboard) and keep score.

  3. Decide which team goes first, write down a number from one to ten and have each side take turns to guess your number.  Whoever guesses correctly gets to have his team go first.

Procedure

Begin with the first person ('Player 1") in the first row of the team going first ("Team A").  Have that person select a category and a point  value.  (Remember to mention that the higher the value, the more difficult the question.)

Pick of the corresponding card from your game cards.

Read the question to Player 1.  If Player 1 answers correctly, he wins those points for his team 'A'.  Number of points is determined by which point value he selected. For example, if he selects a 300 point question and answers it correctly, he earns 300 points for his team.

It is the scorekeepers job to then erase the 300 points from the game board and record 300 points for Team A.

Now Player 2 of that same team  'A' gets to choose a category and dollar value.  He too must answer his question correctly in order to gain dollars (points) for his team.

If Player 2 answers his question incorrectly, Player 1 of the other team ("Team B") gets a chance at answering that same question.

If Player 1 of Team B answers the question correctly, then his teams' Player 2 gets to select a category and a dollar value.  Each side continue to have his turn until someone on his team misses a question.

If a question is answered incorrectly by one team and then by the other, the question return to the first team and ten to the second until someone answers the question correctly.

Students are not to have any interaction with each other during the game.  They can applaud, cheer, etc., but may not speak - especially during the time after a question has been read and you are waiting for an answer.  There is a 100 point deduction for calling out or rude behavior (booing).

The winner of the game is the team with the highest number of points at the end of the game.

Tip:  Kids love free homework passes or extra credit points toward their next test.  This is what I usually give the winners.
