Poetry Project

 

The poetry project will test your understanding of the analysis of poetry as based on the work covered in class. The following is required:

 

1. Student must choose a poem to memorize that is approved by the teacher.
2. This poem must be memorized and recited in a manner that reveals an in depth understanding.
3. Student must present an analysis of the poem which includes the following:

The type of poem (sonnet, villanelle, etc.) and its effect.

Rhyme/rhythm techniques used by the poet and their effect.

Poetic techniques/figurative language used by the poet and their effect.

Tone and theme of the poem and how the student has come to understand them (using line references).

4. Student must use Think .com to present:

 

Ø      You should include in the webpage:

Ø      A title for your webpage

Ø      The Poem: you should retype this under the author section.

Author Write a story, poem, report, or whatever you would like.

Ø      You should then write your explication of the poem to appear below the poem. This can be uploaded from a word document.

Upload Files Upload files from Word, Claris Works and other programs.

§         This must include theme and tone and refer to the ELEMENTS AND TECHNIQUES used to reveal theme and tone. (If you do not do this, you will not receive credit!!!)

§         BE CREATIVE with how you present this. You do not have to simply write it as a paper. Try to think of it as a presentation.

Ø      You must include 2 pictures that express tone and 2 pictures that express theme and explain why.
