You will be working on a new unit of study,
the development and making of a book for a small child. 

In addition to the project work that will be going on in class,
you are required to complete the activity defined below. 

You will complete your research and submit your findings 
using the linked report form.

Carefully read the following information for this activity ...

1.  Go to the main library or a branch in your neighborhood, or visit a major bookstore.
2.  Locate a list of Caldecott Award winning books.  Check out, locate at home, or purchase a book
    from the list for your use with this assignment.  You will be required to bring the book to class!
3.  Research information about the artist/illustrator of your chosen book.  Research how s/he got
    started as an artist or illustrator and how long they have been in this career.
4.  Using the book you selected, examine the style of art work the artist/illustrator uses.  What is it
    about the art work that is special in regard to the illustrative approach used, and the award
    received?
5.  Document in written form any information you locate that answers the above questions as well as
    any additional information you feel is relevant, important, or that you find of interest.
6.  Document all sources for your gathered information.  Be specific!!!  (Example:  website address,
    book title and author, encyclopedia references, sources/people utilitzed at the library, etc.)
7.  To complete this activity, fill out the linked report form and "submit" it as directed.

Reminder!  Reports are due no later than 8:30 PM the evening of the stated due date!
