Batter Up!: Activities

Activity 2

The "corporation" will now decide on a name for their team. Again, they must present their rationale to the commission. There can be NO two major league teams with the same name. This means research must be conducted so names are not duplicated. Names must also reflect the city in which the team will play. For example, the Florida Snowmen would be rejected by the commission. This is a short activity so at the same time, the corporation can select and present their rationale for colors.

A written business-style letter, complete with all its parts, requesting the team name is to be presented to the Commissioner along with a draft of the team colors. The commissioner will accept or reject on the basis of rationale.

  Assessment

  • Originality and creativity will be the focus of the grade.
  • Assessment of essay for grammar, spelling, and correctness of business letter format.
