What’s the best way to evaluate the effectiveness of schools? This case explores how schools are affected by reports on Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals in the wake of the No Child Left Behind Act. How useful is it to measure a school’s effectiveness based on one standardized test? How can parents use these reports to make decisions about what school is best for their children? What other factors have an impact on how successful a school will be at effecting student achievement? Discussion Questions
